GAWA Capital Partners was founded in 2009 in Madrid. It was established as a partnership between the current management team and Ambers&Co, a leading independent financial advisory firm operating in Spain since 2002 which is currently operating under Ernst&Young Spain. The partners saw the field of impact investing as an attractive opportunity to apply their expertise in an effort to make a positive contribution to society in a financially sustainable way.

The Spanish Development Agency approves an investment for up to €12.5 million in the Global Financial Inclusion Fund
The Fund to Promote Development (Fonprode) is approved to commit a 33% of the capital of Global Financial Inclusion Fund with the limit of €12.5 million. Global Financial Inclusion Fund is the second impact investing fund advised by GAWA Capital.

Luca and Agustin met and soon after GAWA Capital's project starts with the help of Eduardo Diez-Hochleitner that introduced Ambers&Co as the partner to initially fund the project and provide institutional support.
The journey begins
Agustin and Luca, founders of GAWA Capital, both quit their jobs in September of 2008. They wanted to explore the possibilities that could lead them from a life of great professional success to a life of deeper significance. They made a strong connection right away, not only because they were alumni of the same business school, but also because they shared values and a vision of what they wanted to pursue. They began exploring the options and decided they wanted to pursue a project in impact investing. They had not met at this point.
